Two Frogs

Two Frogs

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.

The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

Lessons of the story:

There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day. So be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path. The power of words... it is sometimes hard to understand
that an encouraging word can go such a long way.

the buffalo and the monkey

 the buffalo and the monkey

A monkey wanted to cross a river to eat some bananas on the other side. Unfortunately, he did not know how to swim. He asked a buffalo to carry him across on his back.
All right, said the buffalo. Jump on. Ill swim across. Theres some very tasty grass on the other side which I would like to eat.
So the monkey rode on the buffalos back across the river. When they reached the other side, the monkey jumped off. He ran to eat as many banana as he could. The buffalo was quite happy eating the long grass.
After some time, the monkey wanted to return home. He asked the buffalo to take him back. But the buffalo told him to wait a little longer as he had not yet finished eating.
The naughty monkey began to sing. He made such a loud noise that a farmer, who was working in a nearby field, came to see what was the matter. He shouted at the buffalo, Thief! Thief! Why are you eating my grass? he threw some stones at the buffalo.
When the farmer had gone, the monkey came out from where he had been hiding. The buffalo was holding his sore head. He had been hit by a stone.
Oh, oh! Why did you make so much noise? If you had kept quite, the farmer wouldnt have noticed me.
The monkey did not know what to say.
The buffalo asked him to sit on his back to return across the river.
When they were half-way across, the buffalo said to the monkey, I want to roll over and take a bath here.
Please dont! the monkey begged. I cant swim.
Thats not my fault. Replied the buffalo. You like to sing and make a noise. I always like to roll over in the water. Its so cool and pleasant and it will cure my headache.
Without saying any more, he rolled over in the water.
Luckily, the monkey was holding on tightly otherwise he would have drowned.
When they reached the other side, the monkey jumped down from the buffalos back. He was very wet and frightened.
I shall never give you trouble again. He promised. The buffalo.

The princess of the sea story

The princess of the sea story

Once upon a time, there was a little boy. He lived with his elder brother by the sea in the Yeh Liu district of northern Taiwan. His brothers wife treated him very badly. He was very lonely. Often he would sit by himself on the seashore playing his flute. His music was very sad but beautiful. Everyone who heard it was impressed. One day, as he was playing his flute, an old man came out of the sea. Young man, he said, you play very well. My mistress, the princess of the sea, is ill. She listen to your music every day. She would like to meet you. I am sorry, I am not a doctor. How can I help her? asked the boy. I am sure if you came to see her, she would feel much better. Replied the old man. The little boy was frightened. Surely I would drown if I went into the sea? he said. Dont be afraid. I shall look after you. You will not drown, said the old man. The old man looked kind and gentle. The boy no longer felt afraid. He followed the old man into the sea. They walked along a wide road on the bottom of the sea. Everything around them was dark and green. Soon they reached a great palace. The boy was surprised at what he saw inside. The walls were made of pearls and the furniture was made of silver the old man invited the boy to sit down on a golden throne. Please wait, said the old man. I shall come back soon. He returned a few minutes later with an old man and woman. They had grey hair and wrinkle on their faces. However, they had bright eyes and they looked very healthy. we will give you anything you want if you can cure our daughter, they said. I shall do my best, answered the boy. They all went into the room where the princess of the sea lay ill on a bed of seaweed. She was very pale and thin. The boy started to play his flute. The music was very beautiful. When he had finished, the princess sat up and smiled. I fell much better now, she said. Her parents invited the boy to stay with them. A few years later, the boy married the princess and was never lonely again.
